Solar system stopped working? Advoltage Electrical repairs solar systems across Brisbane — inverter faults, dead isolators, wiring failures and systems that quietly stopped producing months ago without anyone noticing.
We’re licensed electricians, not a solar sales company. We don’t want to sell you a new system. We want to find out why the one you already paid for isn’t doing its job.
Most solar faults don’t announce themselves. The panels sit up there looking exactly the same whether they’re producing or not, and plenty of Brisbane households don’t find out for months — usually when a power bill arrives that doesn’t make sense.
Worth getting looked at:
That last one isn’t a maintenance job. Turn the system off if you can do it safely from ground level and call us straight away.
The rooftop isolator switch is the single most common failure point on Australian solar systems. They sit in full sun and weather for years, seals break down, water gets in, and the contacts corrode or arc. It’s also the fault most likely to become a fire risk, which is why we check it first on nearly every callout.
Inverters are the working part of the system and they don’t last as long as the panels. Error codes, repeated shutdowns, isolation faults and complete failure are all common once a unit passes the ten-year mark. Some faults are repairable, some mean replacement — we’ll tell you honestly which one you’re looking at. More on that on our inverter replacement page.
This one catches a lot of Brisbane households out. If the voltage in your street climbs too high in the middle of the day, your inverter is required to shut down to protect itself. Nothing is broken — but you lose your best production hours every day, and you’ll keep losing them until it’s diagnosed. It’s a real problem in streets with a lot of solar on them.
Rooftop connectors corrode. Cable ties perish in UV and drop cabling onto hot tin. Possums and rats chew insulation in roof spaces. Any of these can take out a string of panels or trip your safety switch.
Sometimes the system is fine and the wi-fi isn’t. Worth ruling out before anything else, and we’ll tell you if that’s all it is.
We start at the switchboard and the inverter, not on the roof. Most faults are visible in the error history, the DC and AC voltages and the isolator condition, and we can get to those safely and quickly.
From there we work outward — string testing, insulation resistance, connector inspection, and panel-level checks where the numbers point that way. You get told what we found, what it will cost to fix, and what happens if you leave it. Then it’s your call.
We charge a fixed fault-finding fee that’s agreed before we arrive, so there’s no meter running while we work.
A lot of Brisbane solar was installed by companies that no longer exist. If you’ve rung the number on the sticker and got nothing, you’re not alone — the industry has had a lot of turnover, and plenty of good systems are sitting there orphaned.
We don’t care who installed it. We service systems from any installer, any brand, any age. Where a component is still under manufacturer warranty we’ll tell you so you can claim it rather than paying us to replace it.
We repair solar systems across Brisbane’s southside, eastern suburbs, bayside and Redlands, including Wynnum, Capalaba, Carindale, Coorparoo, Camp Hill and the surrounding suburbs.
Bayside systems get an extra look at connector and isolator corrosion — salt air is hard on rooftop electrical gear and it shows up in solar faults more often than people expect.
Not necessarily. It might be a monitoring or wi-fi dropout rather than a generation fault. Check whether the inverter itself is showing normal operation. If it’s blank or showing a fault code, it’s a real problem and worth booking in.
We quote a fixed fault-finding fee up front based on your system and location, and we tell you the repair cost separately before doing any work. No surprises at the end.
In most cases it’s a repair. Panels usually outlast everything else, so a fault is far more often the inverter, an isolator or a cable than the panels themselves. We’ll always price the repair before anyone talks about replacement.
Usually moisture or insulation breakdown somewhere in the DC side of the system, often at a rooftop isolator or connector. The safety switch is doing exactly what it should. Don’t keep resetting it — get it traced.
No. Solar arrays carry live DC voltage whenever there’s daylight, and it can’t be switched off at the panel. Leave rooftop inspection to a licensed electrician.
Yes. We work on systems from any installer and any brand, and we’ll check whether anything is still covered by a manufacturer warranty before we quote you.
Send us the details of your system — brand, rough age, and what it’s doing — and we’ll come back with a fixed price to find the fault.
